The European Commission has published new proposals for a new Regulation on organic production and the labelling of organic products. Consumer and producer concerns are at the heart of this new proposal, which seeks to address shortcomings of the current system. "Brüssel (dpa) - Wo «Bio» drauf steht, soll in Europa künftig wieder «Bio» drin sein. Die EU-Kommission will die Regeln verschärfen. Pestizidverseuchte Tomaten und falsch deklariertes Olivenöl - in der Biobranche hatten sich die Skandale gehäuft. Die EU-Kommission will Bioprodukte zuverlässiger machen und besser kontrollieren. Schärfere Auflagen und eine strengere Kontrolle sollen dafür sorgen, dass Bioprodukte tatsächlich «bio» sind." (SZ 25.03.2014)
