Barley et al. :  The benefits of partnership schemes such as Researchers in Residence to schools and research students

"Each partnership will be different, as the combinations of personalities and schools will always be different. With this comes the opportunity to develop something unique and exciting, and which has the ability to inspire pupils, develop teacher and researcher skills and forge links with external partners. Partnership collaborations have the ability to improve teacher and researcher quality, and, as has been noted:

Probably nothing in a school has more impact on students in terms of skills development, selfconfidence, or classroom behaviour than the personal and professional growth of their teacher." (Barth, 1990: 49)
